Loud Music Leads to Stand Your Ground Defense

A Jacksonville man is being charged with the death of an unarmed black teenager over a fight about the youth’s music. Michael Dunn pulled up next to the youth’s car and told them to turn down their music. Soon enough, Dunn fired 8 or 9 shots into the car, killing one. He is now being charged with murder and attempted murder.

Dunn’s lawyer is suggesting that he acted in self-defense and is planning on using Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law, which allows an individual to defend himself in situations where he feels there is a legitimate threat of serious bodily harm or death, without needing to retreat.

Tampa Criminal Defense attorney Ben Stechschulte knows whether or not Florida’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law may apply to your case. For a free consultation, contact Pinellas Criminal Defense lawyer Ben Stechschulte at 813 280 1244 or [email protected].
