Client was charged with trafficking in heroin and was facing a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence. This was a joint federal and state investigation involving both the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the St. Petersburg Police Department.
That Attorney General’s Office-office of statewide prosecution prosecuted our Client. We successfully argued that that the Confidential Informant did not do a drug deal with our Client. Ben also cross-examined the lead detective to show that the detective was lying on the stand when he said he saw our Client doing a drug deal with the Confidential Informant.
The jury deliberated for just an hour and our Client was found NOT GUILTY of all charges. Thus, he was not sentenced to 15 years prison on this case.
